Assan

Assan by SIAM 1928 is a fragrance for women and men. Assan was launched in 2020. The nose behind this fragrance is Nutt Wesshasartar. Top notes are Watery Notes, Green Notes, Petitgrain and Bergamot; middle notes are Ylang-Ylang, Orange Blossom, Olibanum, Jasmine and Styrax; base notes are Salt, Seaweed, Labdanum and Cedar. "Hearing the waves and breeze in the air, Longing for my love that was once there. Drifting deeper away from where we were, Leaving our memories on the shore forever. Love, remembrance, feelings and tragedy are like sea waves hitting the shore constantly. Every moment, either during high tide or low tide, those waves will always leave traces on the shore. This is the meaning of the poem describing the love of a mermaid in "Phra-apaimanee", a 1200-page novel written by "Phra Soonthornvoharn" or "Soonthorn Pu", the great poet of Rattanakosin Kingdom. Based on the novel, a mermaid is an animal with the upper part of the body resembling a beautiful lady and the lower part that resembles a fish. She lives with her family in the ocean, but unfortunately loses them while rescuing Phra-apaimanee from the attack of the Ocean Butterfly Giant. Both the mermaid and Phra-apaimanee escaped to an island named "Koh Keaw Pitsadarn", where they fell in love and had a son together. Later, Phra-apaimanee left the mermaid to travel the world. She then gave birth to a human boy, which is impossible for her to nurture him because she needs to stay in the ocean. The mermaid then took her son to an ascetic and asked for help to bring up her son. This story is the inspiration of our perfume "Assan", which means "The Tears of the Ocean". The word "Assan" is a combination of two words, "Assu", which means "tears" and "Annop", which means "ocean". This aroma represents the three tragedies in the mermaid’s life. First, the loss of her family, second, the loss of her lover and lastly, giving away her child. A mild citrus scent mixed with some leafy and ozone smell is the top note of this perfume, which represents the scenery of the sea. The heart note of this perfume is made of jasmine in combination with a variety of flowers and wood sap. In Thai belief, jasmine is a flower of good intentions, pure love and gratitude, which best reflects the mermaid’s feeling for her family and child. Finally, after all tragedies, the base note of this perfume is the aroma of the sea without waves before drifting into the deepest part of the ocean." - a note from the brand.
